Israel's Response Should Be Proportionate. You're Kidding!

It is amazing listening to the MSM and the usual suspects in the international community criticize Israel's response to the attacks from Hamas as not being "proportionate." Excuse me, but this is war. War is a terrible thing but once troops are committed the only goal can be total victory. That means defeating the enemy in the swiftest and most thorough manner possible. Should Israel allow Hamas to do as much damage and kill as many people to satisfy the "proportionate" standard being promoted by many in the international community? Should the World War II Allies have taken a proportionate approach in confronting the aggression of the Nazis and Japanese? Let's get serious and let Israel totally prevail.

The Root of All Evil

One of the first serious acts I engage in every morning is to walk to the end of my driveway prior to my daily jog and read the headlines of the Wall Street Journal. Since mid-September the WSJ headlines have described the collapse of the financial markets and individual acts of corruption that are hard to imagine. Reading the usually restrained WSJ is almost torture as page after page is filled with stories describing faltering economies in virtually every country in the world and the efforts of desperate government officials to deal with the global meltdown. At the same time major corporations and industries are all feeling the pain and the word "bailout" has become the most used and hated term in recent weeks.

I strongly support the essentials of the capitalist system--free markets and free trade--But integrity is the coin of the realm of the free enterprise system and trust and transparency are necessary to sustain it. The current economic meltdown did not happen overnight, but it is the result of a steady decline in personal and corporate morality and affirms the admonition of two thousand years ago that "the love of money is the root of all evil." The fact that Bernard Madoff could fool some of the world's wealthiest and most powerful people for years and create a $50 billion Ponzi scheme reminds us that wealth and education have nothing to do with wisdom (the ability to determine right from wrong). We are also witnessing first hand the inability of the best and brightest to effectively deal with the crisis and in many ways their policies are making things worst.

It is not too extreme to say that the world is looking for a Messiah and much is being written about the hope that many have that the President-elect has some silver bullet to solve the current crisis. It is not going to happen. Scripture does tell us that someday The Messiah will reign and show us how government should function. It will all be accomplished without hedge funds, tax increases or acts of Congress. That day will come, but until then things will get worse before they get better.

With Friends Like These---

The arrest of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (to be referred to as Blago) for seeking to sell the U.S. Senate seat of Barack Obama for a bribe underscores just how difficult it will be for the mainstream media (MSM) to cover up the President-elect's past and his associations. While the MSM gave Obama a pass for his associations with Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers while trying to find out if Sarah Palin was guilty of jaywalking in Wasilla, Alaska, during the general election they now have to deal with the reality of Obama's Chicago ties. That is because the tapes that U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald produced revealed Blago to be such a blatant crook and identified many other Illinois political figures all of whom are associated with the President-elect.

Initially the tapes seemed to clear Obama of any deal making regarding the seat, but at this writing it is becoming clear that the President-elect's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was involved in discussing the issue with the Governor. Don't forget Emanuel, Obama and others were heavily involved in getting Blago elected in 2002 and Blago in turn supported Obama when he ran for the Senate in 2004. At this point it is hard to exactly forecast what is going to happen, but here are a few predictions.

1. Patrick Fitzgerald has a lot more evidence to make a case than he has shown. He will use this as leverage to bring down as many high ranking wrongdoers as possible. He has already put the previous Governor in jail, caused Scooty Libby to resign from the White House and tried to find evidence to cause Karl Rove and Dick Cheney problems in the Valerie Plame case.
2. When faced with serving 30 years in jail Blago will make the best deal possible for himself and turn in everyone he knows including Obama (if there is a problem) to save his skin.
3. If there is a case against Obama the President-elect's more fanatical fans in the media will still defend him saying that because of all the problems he will face as President he deserves a pass because he needs to focus on those issues. Attacking Obama will be viewed as an unpatriotic act. At the same time some of Obama's supporters who backed him because of a desire for "Change" may finally realize that they have elected a Chicago machine politician and that is not a good thing for the country.
4. The real test for Obama will come when he becomes President and has the option of replacing Fitgerald as U.S. Attorney in Chicago. If that happens there will be a firestorm of protest and Obama will have to seek ways to change the subject.
5. It now appears the person filling Obama's senate seat will be chosen through a special election rather than being appointed. While, Illinois is a blue state, the Republicans might have an outside chance if they picked a candidate who was clean and had charisma. This person could run on a clean government platform which might succeed given what has under under Blago.

The Battle For Georgia

On December 2, four weeks after the general election, the people of Georgia went back to the polls and reelected their senior senator Saxby Chambliss in a runoff election that had significant national implications. The following is a summary of that race from someone who was involved in the process and some thoughts about where we go from here. As a result of the November 4 general election not only did the Democrats win the White House, make gains in the House of Representatives but they were very close to reaching the filibuster proof number of 60 seats in the Senate. The last two roadblocks were in Minnesota where the incumbent Republican Senator Norm Coleman holds a precarious lead in an endless recount with Al Franken and in Georgia where Chambliss had been forced into a runoff with Democrat Jim Martin.

Because of the importance of the Georgia race both parties threw huge resources into the contest. Millions of dollars were spent in negative advertising and by the end of the race it was impossible to turn on the radio or TV and not hear terrible things about Chambliss or Martin. Both parties also brought in their big names. McCain, Rudy, Romney and Huckabee for Chambliss, Bill Clinton and Al Gore for Martin. Obama did not come but he made a radio commercial and robo calls for Martin. On the day before the election the two sides brought in their rock stars: Sarah Palin for Chambliss and the rapper Ludicrous for Martin.

My late father took me to my first political rally for Dwight Eisenhower (I was a babe in arms) and since that time I have attended many political events for famous and not so famous politicians. Without question Sarah Palin can generate a genuine frenzy of support from a large crowd to a greater degree than any political leader I have ever seen. She had traveled to Augusta, Savannah, Perry and the stop in Duluth was her final appearance. Her high energy level, her stress on the importance of the election and her appeal to use the election of Chambliss as a springboard for the restoration of the conservative movement energized the crowd. The final polls showed that Chambliss was leading by 3-5 points. He won by 15 and though Palin's appearances for him were not the only reason for the large margin, everyone, especially Chambliss, understands how big a factor she was.

On election day I worked as a pollwatcher at a precinct 9C in the west side of Atlanta. A pollwatcher represents a political party to insure that the pollworkers in a given precinct handle the voting in a honest manner and follow the rules. As a GOP pollwatcher I was sent to a heavily Democratic precinct. In some cities such as Chicago and Philadelphia Republican pollwatchers have been abused and harrassed in trying to carry out their duties. Thankfully this was not my experience. I had been a pollwatcher at the precinct located in a large African American Baptist Church for the Presidential election, and I volunteered to go back to same precinct for the runoff. The pollworkers were all highly professional, the rules were followed (be thankful for photo ID) and though I was a true minority I was treated with respect. The precinct has about 2,500 registered voters. During the presidential election about 1,000 voted early and 754 voted on election day. Of those Obama got 732 to McCain's 20 (really brave people). On the day of the runoff Martin got 800 to 21 for Chambiss. However, just over 100 voted early. Therefore, I knew that the Democrats had not delivered their base for Martin in the numbers they needed to win. I strongly recommend that those reading this blog consider serving as a pollworker (you get paid for that service) or a pollwatcher (you don't get paid and it requires some courage) as way to contribute to your community. It will also give you a great chance to see that our system works fairly for all.

The election of 2008 was truly historic even if did not have the outcome many of us would have preferred. The election of Obama was understandbly a huge source of pride for the voters at precinct 9C. At same time during my two poll watching experiences it was obvious to me that the voters I met for the most part were devout, church going individuals who shared a strong belief in faith and family. Thanks to the overwhelming support of the African-American community the pro-marriage Proposition 8 won in California. Every poll shows that the African-American and Hispanic communities are among the most pro-life sectors of our society. I hope the GOP is wise enough to make values a cornerstone in their restoration efforts. It would also be a wise thing to elect Michael Steele as head of the RNC. Symbols are important and Michael Steele's election would remind people that the GOP is the party of Lincoln.

The World Is Going Mad

Mumbai Massacre: Watching 10 terrorists literally control the life of a major city and stun a worldwide television audience reminds us that Islamic radicalicsm is not going away but will only become bolder in the coming days unless it is confronted and defeated. The Islamic militants clearly took pleasure in torturing their victims and promoting their cause. In addition, they have provoked a potential crisis between India and Pakistan at a time the West needs Pakistan to focus on its border with Afghanistan. The attack on Mumbai should remind us that it is nothing short of a miracle that similar actions have not occurred on our shores since 9/11. It is almost against the law to praise President Bush for anything, but someday a wise historian will write that because of President Bush and his policies America was kept safe from such brutality while many other countries suffered mightily during the last seven years. President-elect Obama is getting good marks for the selections to his national security team. But one has to be concerned about his previous statements regarding the closing of Gitmo and his opposition to parts of the Patriot Act. One can only hope that the next President will take heed to the words of Thomas Jefferson--"Eternal viligence is the price of liberty."

Economic Meltdown and Bailouts: Since mid-September Americans have watched in shock as great financial institutions and corporations have collapsed in front of their eyes and in many cases become wards of the state. Now we are watching the leaders of the U.S. auto Big Three come before Congress begging for money and saying that their companies will collapse within a month unless such assistance is forthcoming. For those who played by the rules during the subprime lending crisis and now see their assets diminish almost daily, it is hard to justify bailing out institutions and individuals who through a combination of greed, arrogance and incompetence seeking, and in a number of cases, obtaining hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars. Once again President-elect Obama has been praised for the makeup of his econmic team. The problem is that many of these individuals were directly involved in getting us to where we are either as public officials or financial tycoons.

Reaction to Proposition 8: The approval of Prop 8 in California affirming the definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman was one of the few bright spots for conservatives on election night. Rather than accept the outcome of the voting gracefully some opponents of Prop 8 have resorted to violence against the religious groups, especially the Mormons. Regardless of ones thinking about the theology of the Mormon Church, one has to commend them along with Evangelicals, conservative Catholics and many African Americans for heroically standing up for traditional values in the face of strong opposition. It is amazing watching the press make those promoting virtue sound like the villains while those committing the acts of violence are pictured as victims of bigotry. "In the last days good shall be called evil and evil, good."

The Stampede at Wal-Mart: I would not get up early on a Black Friday to be part of a mob in front of Wal-Mart even if they were giving away free money. Obviously there many in our society who view things differently. The annual ritual of mobs of bargin hunters crashing into retail outlets on the day after Thanksgiving gets more attention than the lighting of the national Christmas Tree. The case of the man who was trampled to death at the Long Island Wal-Mart without anyone coming to his aid reflects a sickness in our society just one step below the terrorist acts in Mumbai. Will the madness ever end? "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pestilences, and eathquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginnings of sorrows."

Will Obama Over Reach?

Three times since 1964 the Democrats have won Presidential elections only to see their mandates overturned because of their ability to midjudge the mood of the American people and over reach in their policies. Lyndon Johnson won in a landslide in 1964 and immediately escalated the war in Vietnam while promoting the very expensive Great Society. Two years later the Republicans made major gains in the Congress and in 1968 Richard Nixon was elected President. In 1976 Jimmy Carter was elected with large Democratic majorities in the Congress. After four years of weakness in foreign policy, a strange energy policy and a poor economy the country turned to Ronald Reagan. In 1992 Bill Clinton was elected on the promise to focus on the economy. Instead he immediately proposed Hillary's healthcare program and gays in the military. Two years later the Republicans gained control of both houses of Congress. The question is will Barack Obama stumble out of the gate and have many turn against him or will he, like FDR, use his rhetoric to maintain strong support for he and his party regardless of his policies for many years.

As pointed out in our previous blog Obama will enter the White House with the wind at his back and high expectations from those who expect him to bring "Change." Without question we are going to hear a lot soaring speeches and see a lot of favorable press coverage. But just what will he do and when will he do it? Obama owes his nomination to the far left of his party, but he owes his election to a broad spectrum of the American people. If he goes hard left he risks alienating more moderate elements, but if he does not make major moves to satisfy MoveOn.org, Planned Parenethood, the ACLU, radical environmentalists and big labor he will feel their wrath.

The economy will be the biggest immediate challenge and Obama and many close to him will be tempted to take the opportunity to make the government a major player in most industries in exchange for bailouts. At this writing, except among members of the United Auto Workers, there is little public support for bailing out the U.S. auto manufacturers. At the same time there is considerable support for offshore drilling which Obama will probably curtail in order to satisfy his environmental allies. Radical moves related to abortion and gay marriage will make some in his coalition happy but will generate considerable opposition from traditional voters whom Obama tried to attract with limited success in the general election.

So there are many areas in which Obama could over reach and pay a high political price. The question then becomes will the GOP produce effective leaders who will offer alternatives that make sense and which can turn back the current Democratic wave. That will be the subject of a future blog.

What is Coming?

So what is going to happen to the U.S. and the world when the Obama adminstration takes office on January 20, 2009. The big question is--who is Barack Obama? Is he the extreme leftist heavily influenced by the most radical elements in our society or is really a pragmatist who will govern much like Bill Clinton by doing those things that will keep him popular with the center of American politics while throwing just enough bones to the left to keep them happy. Obama will enter office facing far different circumstances than Bill Clinton did. The economy is in disarray, we are fighting two wars and Obama is far more beholden to the far left of his party than Clinton was. With this as background here is what we can expect. http://tykef.blogspot.com.

Government control and influence will grow beyond our wildest imagination. Those around Obama and the Democrats in Congress see the current financial crisis as a great opportunity to dramatically expand the role of government. Not only will banks, insurance companies and auto manufacturers be getting bailouts but so will other sectors of the economy. Each bailout will come at a price, however, as everyone getting federal aid will be required to submit to more government regulations while being pressured to send campaign contributions to the Democratic National Committee. Labor unions will grow in strength as the secret ballot in union elections will be eliminated. The so-called Obama tax cuts will be little more than welfare checks going mostly to those who do not currently pay federal income taxes while the most productive individuals will see a tax increase.

The Opposition Will Be Marginalized. Obama and his followers want to create a permanent liberal Democratic majority by maximizing their voter pool while limiting the voices of opposition. Illegal immigrants and felons will get the vote. ACORN, which was heavily involved in voter fraud in the recent elections, will get more federal funding to continue their illegal activities. Meanwhile, there will be an effort to bring back the Fairness Doctrine in order to limit the most effective conservative outlets in the country--talk radio.

Traditional Values Will be Trashed. Obama gives every indication of using executive orders to provide federal funding for overseas abortions and lifting the ban on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. He has stated that he opposes the Defense of Marriage Act which defines Marriage as between one man and one woman and allows states to refuse to recognize same sex marriage. (Remember it was Bill Clinton who signed this act into law and who actually looks like a moderate by comparison to Obama.) The biggest attack on traditional values will come as a result of Obama's selection of leftist judges for all levels of the federal court system. Over time they will find a constitutional right for almost every leftist cause at the expense of traditional family values. The ACLU will rule in the courts and at the Justice Department.

Foreign Policy and National Security. Becoming Commander in Chief may sober Obama to a certain extent. Thanks to our troops, President Bush and John McCain the surge in Iraq has turned things around to the point where victory is at hand. If Obama moves too quickly to withdraw troops and chaos results he knows he will be held accountable. The bigger concern is that he will try to resolve the Iranian threat by talk that will only make the U.S. look weaker and put Israel at risk. Joe Biden was right. There will be an international crisis in the first six months of an Obama administration. In addition to an Iranian attack on Israel, China could move on Taiwan and Russia could establish bases in the Western Hemisphere.

Appointments: It is possible that Obama's senior cabinet appointments will look almost respectable, but he will be allowed over 3,000 appointments and the real problems will be with the junior office holders who really make day to day policy. This is where you will see the names of a lot of young radicals pop up. These are the people who are capable of doing a lot of mischief.

Obama will enter office in a win-win situation. If things continue to go bad for the economy he can blame Bush. On the other hand if things turn around his followers will recommend a place on Mt. Rushmore for him in his first year. We are going to hear a lot of great speeches and see of lot of photo ops provided by a fawning press. We are also going to witness a lot of surprises and shocks. Our next blog will deal with what the response should be of those who are less than enamored by the prospects of an Obama administration and where its potential weaknesses lie.

What Happened?

Barack Obama has been elected the 44th President of the United States. One must extend congratulations while at the same time step back and ask how did a person with so thin a resume and with so many questionable associates get elected to the preeminent position in the world. President-elect Obama’s path to White House has been one of systematically eliminating roadblocks while benefiting from a remarkable set of circumstances. These comments will focus on the incredible rise of our next President.

1994: Obama runs for the Illinois State Senate--His incumbent opponent plans to step down but changes her mind. Obama challenges the names of the people signing her petition and has her removed from the ballot for lack of valid signatures. He then has all his other Democratic opponents removed from the ballot for the same reason.

2004: Obama runs for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate—A month before the primary a wealthy businessman holds a big lead over Obama and the other contenders. The press, however, uncovers that the businessman has ethical and moral issues. His campaign crashes and Obama wins the nomination.

2004: Obama’s potentially strong Republican opponent, Jack Ryan, is forced to quit the race because of revelations regarding his messy divorce. Republicans nominate a very weak candidate and Obama wins in a landslide. This makes him look very good since the GOP retains the White House and makes gains in other parts of the country.

2008 Democratic Primary: A year ago all the smart people agreed that Hillary Clinton was a cinch to win the Democratic nomination. Remember those days? The Democrats, however, had created a system of proportional representation with a heavy emphasis on caucuses in smaller states that limited Hillary’s strength in the big states. Meanwhile, the liberal press switches its allegiance from Hillary to Obama. There was no reporting on Obama’s associations until its too late to make a difference. So even though Hillary spent $250 million, gets the majority of the popular vote and wins almost all of the big states, Obama wins the nomination.

2008 General Election: Obama makes his Denver convention with a speech in front of 80,000 complete with Greek columns He has a huge money advantage facing a dispirited GOP tied to an unpopular President. With hours, however, everything changes as John McCain shocks everyone by selecting Sarin Palin as his running mate. Suddenly the GOP base is inspired, money starts pouring into McCain’s campaign and Palin does the impossible by knocking Obama off the front pages. Her spectacular convention speech make her an instant star. By mid-September McCain is ahead in the national and key state polls. Obama is off his game saying things like “putting lipstick on a pig” and Joe Biden is making a gaffe everyday. Then came the great economic downturn of 2008. Overnight giant banks and insurance companies are insolvent requiring an unpopular government bailout, the stock market plunges, and the wrath of millions falls on the incumbent administration and by inference on McCain-Palin. The press is relentless in stoking up the crisis while downplaying Obama's questionable associations and trashing Palin daily in order to drive down her approval numbers. In the end Obama wins by six points, has a significant electoral college margin and the Democrats make major gains in the Congress.

At every turn Barack Obama has benefitted from events and timing. His rhetorical skills have covered up for a thin record, and he has tapped into a nation's desire for "Change." What next? That will be the subject of our next blog.

Barack Obama--The Manchurian Candidate

In the 1962 Frank Sinatra, Angela Lansbury and a number of other famous actors were featured in "The Manchurian Candidate." This classic movie tells the story of a captured U.S. soldier who is brainwashed by the Soviets and Chinese during the Korean War and is sent back to the United States to assist his Communist Mother and Step-Father, who pretend to be very conservative, gain power in the United States. The plan almost works until the POW is freed from his brainwashing and actually kills the couple. I do not believe that Barack Obama is brainwashed but do believe he is the product of some of the most radical thinkers of our time. He learned how to be a community organizer from the late radical leftist Saul Alinsky who encouraged him to move to Chicago. His political career was launched with the help of William Ayers, the terrorist who bombed the Pentagon, The Capitol and the New York police headquarters and who is unrepentent for these actions to this day. Obama's only managerial experience occurred when he and Ayers took a $50 million grant from the Annenberg Foundation that was supposed to used to improve the education of Chicago children and funneled it into radical organizations like ACORN and developed programs designed to cause students think the worst of their country. Beyond this we have Obama's 20 years of sitting under the teaching of Reverend Wright racist diatribes. While some or all of this information has been noted by conservative talk radio hosts it has received virtually no coverage in the fawning pro-Obama mainstream media. Why? Had this information be noted by the MSM a year ago Obama would not be have been the Democratic nominee. The MSM found a like-minded standardbearer and backed him entirely and even dumped on the expected nominee Hillary Clinton to insure Obama's victory. There is one way to bring this all to light. During the forthcoming VP debate Sarah Palin says "Since I was selected to be John McCain's runningmate all of Senator Obama's media friends have poured into Alaska looking for any hint of scandal about me including whether I was guilty of jay walking in the third grade, but they have avoided mentioning the issues noted above." Then Sarah says, Here is a news flash. There are a lot of flights going in and out of Chicago everyday. If you are really interested in being professional you will be on the next plane and start doing some serious reporting. I am not holding my breath." This bring s down the house.

Barack Obama--

Will Sarah Lead the Children of Abraham to the Promised Land?

One of the more interesting sub plots of the 2008 election is what will happen to the Jewish vote. Historically Democratic candidates get between 75-80% of this Bloc which is heavily concentrated in a number of large states, some of them critical swing states. This year could be different. The GOP offers in McCain-Palin perhaps the most pro-Israel ticket in history. No one can doubt McCain's seriousness in wanting to defeat the Jihadists and Governor Palin strongly supports Israel to the extent that she proudly displays the flag of Israel in her office. On the other hand, the Obama-Biden ticket should cause concern for anyone who supports the security of Israel. Obama changes his position on Israel depending on which audience he is speaking to and he has been influenced by a number of anti-Semites including Reverent Wright. Joe Biden has often been referred to as Tehran's favorite senator and has reportedly told Israeli officials that they should be ready to accept a nuclear Iran. Watch what happens next Tuesday (September 23) when Sarah Palin speaks to a gathering in New York which opposes the anti-Israeli policies Iran's crazed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Hillary Clinton was also invited to speak, but when she heard that Sarah Palin was going to be present she angrily withdrew. (Hillary is angry about a lot of things these days). Obviously, while Hillary is OK with her stand in appearing with Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live she does not want her speech or appearance to be compared with Sarah Palin's, especially on her home turf. Don't surprised when Sarah Palin gets resounding cheers next week from the Jewish community and don't be surprised when the McCain-Palin ticket gets between 35-40% of the Jewish vote on November 4. That will mean that the GOP ticket will carry Ohio and Florida by good margins and will probably carry either Pennsylvania or Michigan or both. Having someone named Sarah, the wife of Abraham, the mother of Issac and the grandmother of Jacob on your ticket is a nice touch.

The Ultimate Irony: Sarah Saves Ted Stevens From Defeat

It is becoming increasingly evident that not only is Sarah Palin a huge boost for the GOP presidential ticket, but she is helping Republicans at the congressional level. Just a month ago there were dire predictions that the Democrats would make significant gains in both the Senate and House. Since the selection of Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate there has been a dramatic shift to Republicans in the so-called generic ballot. In other words a lot of Republicans who were in danger of losing their races may win thanks to the Sarah Tsunami. Ironically, one Republican who may survive is Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska. The 84-year-old Stevens is currently under indictment for corruption and is famous for promoting the Bridge To Nowhere which Governor Palin eventually killed. A month ago Stevens was losing by 17 points to his Democratic opponent, but in the most recent survey he is winning by two. If Stevens had any decency he would drop out of the race in favor of a "clean" Republican. Unfortunately that won't happen. Advice to Governor Palin: Don't endorse Senator Stevens by name if asked as it will put a smudge on your image as a reformer.

And a Hockey Mom Shall Lead Them

It is tempting to write about something other than Sarah Palin, but what else is there? Hurricanes, wars, the economy and the beginning of the NFL season would normally be worth a mention, but those topics all pale compared to Sarahmania. Something is happening out there. The fact that more people watched her spectacular address to the RNC than Barack Obama's Greek Temple speech, that according to Rasmussen her approval rating is higher than either Obama or McCain and that Obama has to send out Hillary Clinton and other women Democrats to counter this Tsunami. There is even talk about the Democrats finding a way to get Joe Biden off the ticket and replacing him with Hillary. If I were Joe Biden I might consider hiring a food taster soon. It was just a week ago that John McCain flew Sarah Palin from Alaska under the cover of darkness to announce her as his running mate in Dayton, Ohio. Since that time a frenzied and unhinged MSM has provided the public with anti-Sarah diatribes 24/7. This will not stop for the next 60 days. I also expect her to be accused of starting the next tropical storm. Despite all this opposition, however, I am becoming more convinced every day that Hurricane Sarah will be coming to Washington next January with John McCain.

Sarah Palin=Wonder Woman + Margaret Thatcher

Five Days ago few outside of Alaska had heard of Sarah Palin. In that short time she has inspired the base of one political party, engendered the wrath of the far left activists of the other party and its media allies and made her acceptance speech on Wednesday at the GOP Convention possibly the most significant political event of the year. How did this happen? It happened because John McCain in a stroke of daring genius picked a person of extraordinary personal accomplishments and principled political positions to be his running mate. Sarah Palin the Miss Congeniality of a beauty pagent, the Barracuda point guard on a state championship basketball team, the marathoner, NRA-member mother of five who worked as a sportcaster, helped manage a family business and served as a city councilwoman , mayor, Energy Commission Chairman and Governor of country's largest state with 20 percent of its energy resources represents multi-tasking on steroids. All that is lacking is any indication of her ability to leap tall buildings in a single bounce. All this has been accomplished without access to family wealth or connections to open doors for her. Her resume is matched by her principles: Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, Pro-Military, Pro-Economic Growth, Pro-Reform and Pro-Energy Independence--and she has put the principles into practice in her public life. Her speech to the GOP Convention and her debate with Joe Biden will be High Noon moments in the current campaign. The prediction here is that she will be the Gary Cooper of 2008. Final Thought: Hillary Clinton spent about $250 million on her run for the Presidency, her campaign is heavily in debt and she is not on the Democrat ticket. Sarah Palin did not spend a nickle and has about a 50 percent chance of becoming the first woman VP in U.S. history. Only in America!!!
